Why would you buy this process and book?

There are some in the secular society who are working very hard to erase the name of Jesus and all Christian symbols from the world. When they tell you that they have “values” ask them to explain what their values are based on. Without Jesus as the authority that guides our behavior, all behavior becomes relative and arbitrary. It then becomes easy to say, “That’s OK to do because it’s not as bad as…” or “I’m OK because I’m not as bad as……..." If you base your value system around the virtues in scripture you will be working from an absolute foundation that is not going to be arbitrarily changed or watered down by an individual or a committee. Your main textbook should be your Bible; this curriculum is meant only as a helpful supplement.
This Faith-Based Curriculum is designed to help the student (child, youth or adult) internalize God’s virtues into their value system not only in the mind, but in the heart. I don’t believe that a person can be completely in line with God’s commandments and the teachings of Jesus until you are:

  1. At peace with Jesus and the Gospel.
  2. At peace with your neighbors
  3. At peace with yourself.

This curriculum will help the student:

  1. Learn how to control anger.
  2. Learn the Conflict Resolution Skills.
  3. Learn how to test your decisions according to your values (hopefully based on the virtues in the Bible).
  4. Learn to look at yourself every day to see which virtues need to be worked on.

This curriculum does not have activities to keep a student “busy”. Each activity has a definite purpose.
Objectives:

  1. The student will be able to develop a Personal Anger Management Plan.
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. James 1: 19-20
  2. The student will practice peaceful communication skills by using I – Feel Messages.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15: 1
  3. The student will practice good listening skills with the help of a “Talking Piece.”
He who answers before listening--that is his folly and his shame. Proverbs 18: 13
  4. The student will practice brainstorming for ideas to solve a conflict or problem.
The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out. The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. Proverbs 10: 31-32
  5. The student will learn to pick an agreement to settle a conflict or a solution to a problem without compromising his / her values (hopefully based on virtues). This is always a good time to say a prayer.
“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18: 19-20
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3
  6. The student will learn to build character by working on a virtue each day using a Personal Virtue Chart.
Even a child is known by his activities, by whether his conduct is pure and right. Proverbs 20: 11

Adults should use the process when they have a problem to act as role models for the young.
